Description

General Description

Our Low Current Strobeswitch (AC-SSLC1014) is a compact, low-current detector for automatically activating emergency vehicle warning systems when emergency vehicles depart a fire station. The Strobeswitch features a low idle current draw, making it ideal for solar-powered installations. Strobeswitches are activated by the optical emitters used by most fire department emergency vehicles to control traffic signals en route to an incident. Our Strobeswitch features a 1/2″ female pipe hub mounting base. Like all Strobeswitch detectors, it is compatible with optical signals from all Tomar Strobecom and GTT OPTICOM emitters.

How It Works

The emergency vehicle uses a special optical emitter to transmit a signal. The Strobeswitch receives this signal, and if the signal format is correct, activates its solid-state output relay. The relay output may be used to control flashing beacons and signs, security gates, and fire department garage doors.

Signaling is optical by line of sight. The Strobeswitch can operate indoors or outdoors, in bright sunlight, or in any weather. The unit is not susceptible to radio frequency interference, and uses digital frequency discrimination to reject unwanted signals, such as flashlights, emergency vehicle lighting systems, flashing signs, etc.
